About the movement:
The purpose of the REUSE Movement that Associação MÔÇES continues to advocate is to raise awareness in the community about the importance of reusing end-of-life plastics by giving them a new purpose.
The main aim is to rally as many people as possible to this cause by giving them the mission of creating eco-bricks from home by filling plastic bottles with other smaller plastics that are not recycled.
Ecological bricks can be used as a building material because of their durability, water resistance and flexibility. Thus, the aim of this project is to build street furniture and art pieces using the collected ecological bricks.
According to SDG 13 – Climate Action -, it is urgent to take measures to combat climate change and its effects. End-of-life plastics are an environmental problem and usually end up in the oceans, landfills or burned. We believe that one of the best answers to this problem is to reduce their consumption, however, because of the constant use of plastic and its inevitable application in so many products, we believe that this solution presents an immediate and accessible alternative for everyone.
For every 1kg of plastic transformed into an ecological brick, 3.1 kg of CO2 are no longer emitted into the atmosphere.
