Following the huge success of the second Algarve Raft Race, we are delighted to be bringing an even bigger & better event this year!

For a safer, fun filled day we are holding the event on the Lake at Quinta do Lago, which means this year we will have: The PADDLE BOARD Race, JUNIOR Raft Race & the SENIOR Raft Race.

The event is guaranteed fun for everyone – so keep an eye out for more event details & the amazing prizes you can win, and of course start thinking of how you will build your rafts! Entries are now open so be sure to get signed up early.

Chosen Charity 2023

We are delighted to announce that the chosen Charity for this year’s @algarveraftrace will be Quinta do Lago’s charity @apatris21

The Algarve Trisomy 21 Carriers Association was created by a group of parents and education professionals, with the aim of responding to the lack of information and support for families with individuals with Trisomy 21 in the Algarve. The objectives of this Association are based on the global integration of people with Trisomy 21, focusing on their education and professional training, with the ultimate aim being their personal fulfilment, autonomy and integration into society.

The association was constituted by public deed in March 2000.

It has had the status of a private institution of social solidarity and public utility since January 2004.

What is Trisomy 21?

Trisomy 21, also known as Mongolism and Down Syndrome, is a genetic disease that results from the presence of a supernumerary chromosome 21 (three chromosomes instead of the usual two). This disease is always characterized by mental deficiency, which may be associated with other anomalies, namely cardiology, ophthalmology, otorhinolaryngology, stomatology and others. Intervention in mental disabilities is essentially based on the provision of medical, educational and social care from an interdisciplinary perspective, always including the participation of the family. However, the degree of mental disability varies from individual to individual, and may perform some professional activity in adulthood.

This association, in order to achieve its objectives, needs various types of support, both pecuniary and human. If you share this ideal, your financial or other contribution will be well received and demonstrate a spirit of great generosity and altruism.
